Pact, An Adoption Alliance Adoptive Parents

Pact is a non-profit organization with a primary mission to serve children of color in need of adoption or who are growing up in adoptive families. In every case, the child is our primary client. We believe that to serve the child we must support and serve his or her adoptive parents by offering the very best resources to help them cope with a world whose attitudes too often reflect "adoptism" and racism. We are a multicultural organization; from top to bottom, our staff and board of directors are racially diverse and reflect all positions of the adoption triad. We believe that same-race adoption is easier for children and that transracial adoption can work beautifully. We believe adopted children and adults deserve as much information and connection to their birth heritage as possible, so that adoption can be something other than an either/or situation demanding a choice between one family or cultural history and another. We believe children thrive when they have the opportunity and support to explore all aspects of their identity.

At Pact, we believe every child deserves to grow up in a permanent, nurturing home. Pact helps build an essential bridge for African American, Latino, Asian and multiracial children born in the US and in need of adoption, a bridge connecting birth families thinking about making an adoption plan and prospective parents seeking to adopt. We are always seeking same-race families and are also happy to work with prospective adoptive parents who are prepared to develop tools to help their child build a positive racial identity. We work with birth parents and adoptive parents from all over the country.
