In addition to numerous workshops and trainings, there are also facilitated discussion groups held in the Bay Area for Adoptive Parents of Color, LGBTQ Adoptive Parents, and Adoptive Parents of Teens.

Online Affinity Group for Families with Adopted Children of Color

This discussion group was originally established by parents who attended Pact Family Camp, but is now open to all families interested in issues relating to raising adopted children of color, not just Pact Camp alumni (though all Pact Campers are encouraged to join and keep up the community they formed at Camp). This is a forum where adoptive parents can share their questions, concerns, and opinions about parenting, adoption, and race as well as information about events or resources that are relevant to adoptive families parenting children of color. Parents of all racial backgrounds are welcome. The majority of the participants on this group live in Northern California but families from across the country are invited to participate.

This discussion group was established by parents who are members of Pact and live in the Sacramento area. This is a forum where adoptive parents in Sacramento can share their questions, concerns, and opinions about parenting, adoption, and race as well as connect one another to resources and events that may be relevant to the participants. Parents of all racial backgrounds are welcome.

About Online Affinity Groups: You are welcome to join more than one group. Pact staff members monitor but generally do not participate in parents' online discussions (except as parents themselves) unless comments are made that are inflammatory or violate Pact's principles (see Overview &Mission).

Northern CA/Bay Area Regional Family Group

Organized and led by adoptive parents who are Pact members, this group allows adopted children of color to meet and play with other children with similar experiences and family structures, while their parents discuss issues and exchange information. Families meet at a park or other venue for informal gatherings on the first Sunday of the month. Meetings alternate at various locations around the Bay. The majority of the kids who attend regularly range in age from 0 to 12, but all ages are welcome.

Register to receive email updates of upcoming meetings.

Are you a natural organizer? Love to bring people together? We are actively recruiting parents who would like to serve as hosts for these events. If you are a Pact member and would like to meet other families at a location in your area, please contact us and we will help you get the word out and arrange a gathering.
