- 1) Family Race/Ethnicity:
- a. Inracial: The adopted child is the same race as the adoptive parents. This study will look only at the following racial groups.
i. Child - African American, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, white, biracial, multiracial
ii. Parent(s) - Same racial and ethnic background as child. In two-parent families, both parents with same racial and ethnic background as child.
- b. Transracial: The adopted child is a different race than the adoptive parents. This study will look only at the following racial groups.
i. Child - African American, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, biracial or multiracial (at least one half African American)
ii. Parent(s) - White
- c. Interracial: The parents are different races from each other. The adopted
child is either the same or a different race than the adoptive parents. This
study will look only at the following racial groups.
i. Child - African American, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, biracial or multiracial (at least one half African American)
ii. Parent(s) - Parenting couples who are different races than each other
- 2) Type of Adoption:
- a. Domestic - Public
- b. Domestic - Private Agency
- c. Domestic - Independent
- d. International - All Legal Forms
