Webinar: Adoption through the Lifespan - CEUs
Adoption through the Lifespan - CEUs
Recent studies indicate that Master’s level therapists and social workers rarely receive any formal education, training or supervision on how to best engage, assess, support and treat members of the adoption and foster care triads – adopted/fostered people, adoptive/foster parents and birth/first parents. This two hour introductory CEU course will provide social workers, therapists and other helping professionals with tools and best practices to use when providing clinical and/or social work services to all members of the adoption triad. We will discuss the language of adoption and help participants understand how and why their words matter and address the stereotypes and microaggressions that are part of the landscape for those touched by adoption. Specific similarities and differences explored in the experiences of all triad members as well as extended family members and friends will be explored along with the core issues that are common to all touched by adoption. Clinical and research-based strategies will be explained.
