Life After Placement - Open Adoption for Professionals
CEU Workshop – Adoption, mental health and social work professionals will increase their competency and skills at supporting all adoption constellation members as they navigate openness and contact. Each family’s (both birth and adoptive) situation is unique and there are no set answers, but by drawing on research, lived experience, and presenting models for openness, this workshop will help professionals understand how to find the child-centered path that considers everyone’s needs and acknowledges the power differentials between adoptees, first/birth families and adoptive families. No relationship is static, they evolve as people grow, and professionals need to have the skills to help all members of the adoption constellation navigate openness and contact for a lifetime.
This workshop is for professionals working with all adoption constellation members.

- Professionals will identify three of the key strengths in open adoption.
