Whose Birth Certificate Is It?

Meeting Times

Tweens: 3:00 pm-6:00pm

Teens: 6:00-9:00pm

Together we will talk about what an ideal birth certificate for adoptees would look like and whether or not we think it is fair that adoptees (even adults) are the only people in the US who cannot have access to their own birth records.

In support of DMC's own adoption journey Me-DMC.com began a program for other adoptees to share their stories. If you would like to share your personal story or the story of someone close to you who has experienced an adoption journey, whether through adopting or being adopted, you will have the chance to have your story published in Pact's newsletter and or have it emailed to DMC.  Facilitator-Katie Wynen

Katie Wynen, MSW, a Colombian adoptee, has a Masters in Social Work. After college, Katie worked at Hyde School in CT where there were a significant population of adopted teens. When Katie first started at Hyde she was the only adult adoptee, and the only faculty member of color. Katie formed strong connections with the families touched by adoption, especially the transracial families, and did intense work with these families during her four years.
