Former Foster Youth & Adult Adoptees of Color Local Support Group

WALK INS WELCOME
Open to adult adoptees of color only, this free, drop-in, peer-led support group is a safe space for adult adoptees of color to connect, listen and share their experiences of growing up in an adoptive family. Space will also be provided for participants to explore and share experiences around race, international adoption, foster care, transracial adoption, birth family, search and reunion. We are: domestic adoptees, international adoptees, Black, Asian, Latinx, multiracial, etc. Our ages range from 21-60 y/o. We have LGBTQI+ identified members, members in open adoptions, closed adoptions, members searching and members in recent reunion. We have been meeting since November 2014 and new adoptees join us every month.
The group, led by Katie Wynen, will meet monthly on the 1st Tuesday of the month. The group will meet at the Pact office, and participants must be over 21. Inquiries can be made to Katie Wynen (email@example.com)
Katie Wynen, MSW, is a transracial, international Colombian adoptee, with a Masters in Social Work. Katie has worked with members of the adoption triad since 2006. She studied under Dr. Joyce Maguire Pavao in Boston before moving to California and joining the Pact staff where she works in adoption placement, leads groups, works with tweens and teens and provides adoption education nationwide. Katie is an Angels in Adoption 2019 Recipient from the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute.
